Sweet & Sassy

Oh, how this gorgeous family loves the camera!  This was technically an engagement shoot, but I always encourage pulling in the kids.  We were lucky to not only have a lovely day, but for some reason our area of the SW waterfront was nearly deserted!  This gang is designing their wedding invites to look like a CD insert for a band, so a lot of attitude and a little outside-the-box thinking was employed.  We all had a blast!

Llama Love

This is not the first time I’ve been fortunate enough to work with this excellent Llama.  Jamie & Josh love llamas so much, they are featured on their gorgeous wedding invites.  I simply had to pull a few strings and made this fun session happen!  This easy-going little family are avid hikers, so a jaunt over to lovely Forest Park was in order.  We all had such a fun time with the animals, the mud and each other.  Ben & I are looking forward to shooting their intimate wedding in Hawaii late next month!

Seeing Red

When this charming couple (who had driven up from Eugene) showed up at our door for their Engagement Session, I have to admit I squealed with delight upon seeing her fantastic red coat.  What an absolutely perfect accessory for a downtown Portland shoot!  Now, I hear complaints all the time about how gloomy and gray the Pacific Northwest is in the wintertime, but I beg to differ.  Just look at all this color!  Wandering around downtown may have nearly frozen us, but I am so pleased with the results of this fun and gorgeous session.  (We get to document their wedding up in the Rocky Mountains this summer!)

Lucia Falls

Ok, shooting in the dazzling noon-day sun is almost as bad as trying to shoot at midnight.  It’s not impossible, but you’ve got to know your gear and get creative with posing.  You and your subjects may all end up roasting, but the images can be excellent!  This fun couple bought one of my portrait sessions at a charity auction.  (I love to donate sessions to good causes, just ask me for details!)  Doing a “just because” session is always fun.  Happy childhood memories drew us to this particularly beautiful site: Lucia Falls.  After getting the requisite Falls scenes we retreated to the relative cover of the surrounding park.  We did some fun couple-shots around the park and finished up with some simple and pleasing new head-shots for their respective employment.  All in all a fun and rather relaxing session.

November Color

Mary S Young State Park.  A short break in the rain.  Gorgeous newly engaged couple not afraid to wear beautiful colors.  Lovely daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter thrown in the mix.  Laughter.  Inspiration.  Friendship.
